How We Can Work Together
"Understanding Your Anxiety, Supporting Your Journey"
- Face to Face: In-person sessions in a quiet, private, and calming therapy room. Ideal for those who value physical presence and a dedicated safe space.
- Online: Secure video calls (via Zoom or similar platforms) allowing you to attend therapy from the comfort of your own home.
- Telephone: Audio-only sessions for those who prefer not to be on camera or have limited internet bandwidth.
“If you are based in Lincoln or anywhere across Lincolnshire and finding life emotionally heavy, remember: help is available now. You don’t need to navigate anxiety, loss, or relationship strain in silence. Taking the step towards counselling is a powerful move toward healing. Your wellbeing matters, and expert local support is closer than you realise.”
Therapeutic Approaches to Anxiety
Person-Centred Anxiety Counselling
You are the expert on your own life.
How it helps anxiety: By providing a non-judgmental space where you are truly heard, the pressure to “perform” or “fix” yourself is removed. This reduces the secondary anxiety often felt about having anxiety. It allows you to explore the root causes of your worry at your own pace, fostering self-acceptance and long-term emotional resilience.
Integrative Anxiety Counselling
A tailored approach designed around you.
How it helps anxiety: Anxiety is complex; sometimes you need a safe space to talk, and other times you might need specific strategies. An integrative approach offers flexibility. If talk therapy isn’t enough on a particular day, we might incorporate creative techniques or somatic (body-based) exercises to help regulate your nervous system.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety
Understanding the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
How it helps anxiety: CBT is highly effective for managing specific symptoms and breaking cycles of worry. We work together to identify unhelpful thinking habits (such as catastrophising) and replace them with more balanced perspectives. You will leave sessions with practical tools and exercises to manage panic, reduce avoidance, and change behavioural patterns in your daily life.

Box Breathing
This technique helps regulate your breath to signal safety to your brain. Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, exhale through your mouth for a count of 4, and hold the empty breath for a count of 4. Repeat this cycle four times.
5-4-3-2-1 Grounding
This sensory exercise brings you back to the present moment. Acknowledge 5 things you see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. It interrupts racing thoughts by forcing your brain to focus on immediate physical reality.
The Worry Tree
When a worry arises, ask yourself: “Is this a problem I can solve right now?” If Yes, make an action plan. If No, label it as “uncertainty,” and gently schedule a time to think about it later. This helps distinguish between productive problem-solving and unproductive rumination.
